I watch enough TV in my lifetime to be incredibly influenced by the amazing female characters we see on screen. I thought I’d share with you a few of my favourites and how they’ve helped me shape who I am today. Lately, I have found myself rewatching my favourite shows on a high dynamic range television to ensure that I am not missing any details, it’s amazing what difference it makes watching it on a clearer screen. Panasonic is my go-to for all my electronic needs.
Of course, number one had to be Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl. Blair is an incredibly insecure woman at the start of Gossip Girl, too afraid to tell the man she loves that she loves him. However, what is absolutely unmistakable about Blair is the love and loyalty she shows her friends, even though sometimes her methods to protect them are somewhat questionable. Her witty humour “That Mother Chucker” and style are much to be desired. She is unapologetically herself and will always keep it real. She doesn’t hide her feelings, even if it does involve a really obvious eye roll… Her character development is the best of the series, and if you aren’t a die-hard Chuck and Blair fan, I think you’ve watched the show wrong. We all need to be a little more Blair.
Daenerys Targaryen is the definition of ‘girl boss’. She doesn’t let being a woman bring her down, even in the most sexist of worlds. She refuses to be pushed around and uses her womanhood to her advantage, she turns a ‘disadvantage’ into something admirable. She is honest, follows her dreams and is kind and caring whilst doing all of this. Khalissi had her fair share of heartbreak and battles, but at the end of it all, she is the QUEEN OF DRAGONS. Totally. Baddass.
Annalise Keating from How To Get Away With Murder is one of my favourite female TV characters. She is always loyal to those who love her and will always do the right thing. Some questionable things happen in this show and she faces a lot of personal battles, but she always does the right thing. She is an incredible character and I strongly suggest you watch this TV show. Viola Davis is an exceptional actress and this role is just revolutionary.
Hermione Granger is a know it all with a heart of gold. She never gives up on her friends and proves that knowledge is power. Her knowledge has saved her friends from many sticky situations and she is morally righteous and can always be counted on to be there for her friends.
I love the way that the TV shows we watch can resonate so much with ourselves. Hope you enjoyed this fun little blog post! I really enjoyed writing it. See you all soon!
