Hello everyone, hope you’re all well. I’ve had an extremely busy last few weeks with work, college and business events which is why this post is so late. I do apologise.
If you didn’t already know, the 4th -10th of May was International Coffee Week and in aid of this I was invited to an event for Curry’s PC World, organised by the WONDERFUL Joe Blogs Blogger Network at Revolution in Newcastle. As soon as I seen the email I jumped at the chance. I have been invited to an event by Joe Blogs once before however I was unfortunately too unwell to attend so I was extremely happy to have another shot. The subject of the email was ‘Cocktails with Curry’s’ and I immediately knew I was in for a great time. I will admit at first I thought it was curry the food, not the company…
I spent hours getting ready and stressing over my outfit and ended up running a little late. On my way to the event my stomach was flipping, I didn’t know anyone there and I had no idea if I would fit in or not. For someone who is so confident at talking to new people, I’m pretty rubbish at making new friends. Upon entrance to Revolution I was escorted to the back where we had a little area reserved.
Before I get writing about the cocktails I have to admit something. I’m not a huge coffee fan. Only recently have I been able to drink a Caramel Frappuccino (with half the amount of coffee and extra caramel). However this Salted Caramel Latte that you see above, was amazing. It was a lot stronger than I expected so I took tiny little sips – and ended up forgetting about which one was mine in the midst of all of the fun. A lot of people enjoyed the fusion of coffee and alcohol but unfortunately I’m not one of those people. I would have prefered it without the alcohol, yeah I know. I’m weird.
After a little networking it was time that we had our first masterclass. They took us in little groups of five for the classes with two groups at a time. As the first, second and third group had their go at making wonderful cocktails I took the opportunity to mingle a little bit, I met the lovely Dannielle from While I’m Young & Skinny and we soon got chatting. We talked for quite a while and found out lots of bits about each other. I loved the fact she had a travel blog and went straight home and read through her adventures.
I made the lovely Espresso Martini and it was lovely! It was Dannielle’s favourite so I let her have mine as it was a little too strong for me (I was going home alone and it was late, I didn’t want to accidentally get too drunk!). After this it was more chat time and I got to know lots of lovely bloggers. After a while we all got ushered towards the bar again but we didn’t know what to expect. Luke from Joe Blogs Network knocked the first shot glass which started a domino effect, it was amazing! I’m not sure what the drink is but it tasted so good. If someone knows what it is, please let me know as I’ll be ordering it next time I’m in Revolution.
After that it was more networking time, by this point I was swapping blogs and instagrams with other bloggers and getting to know their backstories. It got to around 9pm and I was pretty hungry as I forgot to eat. Which is just as well they brought out some amazing food which was healthy too. I think it’s safe to say we all pretty much devoured this, I know I did. They catered for the vegan bloggers too, which I thought was very considerate of Revolution!
I had an amazing time and met some amazing people. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and it exceeded all of my expectations. I would like to say a massive thank you to Joe Blogs Network for inviting me, Revolution Newcastle for hosting an amazing event and last but not least, Curry’s for making the event happen. I couldn’t of celebrated Coffee Week in a better way. Check out the post from Curry’s on their website here for more about the event and even more photos. It was lovely having an event in a city that is usually ignored and I hope it’s a start of many more to come.
