Charlotte Tilbury. A brand I’ve lusted after for years but never been brave enough to take the plunge to buy. Wayne Goss introduced me to this brand after chatting about how much he loves the Magic Cream (mental note; try this one day!) and I just knew it was a brand I had to check out. Wayne is basically the God of makeup to me, I’d trust him with my face entirely. After the Charlotte Tilbury counter FINALLY opened in Newcastle after months of teasing us, I was all over it. I wanted everything. At the time, I couldn’t really afford anything so I thought I’d wait. A few weeks later it was my birthday and I turned out to be the luckiest girl ever on that day!
My brother got me Glastonberry Matte Revolution Lipstick and the matching Lip Cheat liner. I was so so happy and excited to use them but not until I’d photographed it, of course… It’s a beautiful deep, purple berry. It’s absolutely gorgeous and can take a makeup look from drab to daring. Definitely not a lipstick for the people who like it natural, but coming out of your comfort zone once in a while is great, right? I didn’t photograph the lip liner because they are AWFUL to try and get a nice photo of. They’re too small, seriously. I can’t do it.
The other Matte Revolution lipstick I received is Love Liberty, a deep pinky-red that compliments my skin tone so well. I don’t think my friends could have picked a red colour that would suit me more. This is the ultimate wearable, everyday red for me. I just love it. I’d wear it every day if I could. It’s rare now that I wear any sort of formulation other than matte, unless I want an extremely glossy look. I just have so much trouble actually keeping products on my lips that I don’t bother wearing anything but matte. I’m lucky if a lipstick will last longer than an hour. Mac’s matte lipsticks don’t have great staying power on me and tend to go a bit flakey, so I figured these would be the same. I was proved wrong, thanks Charlotte! I was so surprised when I applied this lipstick at 8am, drank my morning coffee and got to about 11am without needing to apply. It’s actually a miracle for me. I even ate a greasy burger and the lipstick was still there! I mean, it wasn’t perfect and had faded a little but the colour was definitely still there and it was still very in tact. Not like other lipsticks that have no staying power on me.
The last thing I received was the Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette in The Vintage Vamp. It took me a long time to use this palette because it’s just so beautiful I didn’t want to mess it up. One day I give in and had a little go and the pigmentation in this palette is amazing. The shadows are so buttery and gorgeous, I’ve fallen in love. I also love wearing a dark, vampy gold/red smokey eye and I don’t think my friends could have chosen a better palette for me. One day I’ll do a tutorial doing a very bold, deep smokey eye using this palette. I can’t wait. It’s going to be great.
If you’re thinking of buying any high end lipsticks, definitely go Charlotte Tilbury. It’s a cut above the rest, I’ve never experienced a lipstick so creamy, buttery and pigmented that is long lasting too. I’ll be buying more and I really want to try a nude, a red and a nice English Rose pink!
The same goes for the eyeshadow palette. The formula isn’t really comparable to many types of shadows that I own. I find some higher-end shadows can be quite talc-y and chalk like. These shadows blend like a dream without losing pigmentation. There’s nothing worse when you blend an eyeshadow and it vanishes. I’d like to try a more neutral palette next, but I’m not sure if I could justify buying another when I already have what seems every single neutral colour under the sun for my eyes!
Here’s a photo of me wearing Glastonberry and Love Liberty.
Hope you enjoyed my little review, if you have any questions comment below and I’ll be sure to answer them. Are there any products from Charlotte Tilbury you’ve been wanting to try? I think I’ll be after trying an Eyes to Mesmerize Long Lasting Cream Shadow.
Thank you for reading, talk to you all soon! ♥
