Living the life of luxury is usually all but a dream, but for a night I got to experience VIP treatment at the Hilton Hotel Newcastle Gateshead. Filled with champagne, amazing food and a spa, it was the evening fit for a princess. It was a pleasure to be able to review a hotel in the North East. We checked in at 3pm and I was quickly whisked away to my room. Situated on the 5th floor, I could see the Tyne Bridge from my beautiful executive suite and it was a beautiful sight, the first thing I did was naturally pop the view on my Instagram Story.
The first thing I did was stop and grab something to eat (a scone, obviously!) and drink before I hit the spa. It was refreshing to be able to sit and relax, and enjoy the view. If I was in there with my laptop, I don’t think I’d ever need to leave!
A spa is pretty mandatory for a luxury hotel, isn’t it? The Hilton has all of your usual spa facilities including a gym, something for everyone! I’m stupidly allergic to chlorine, so I lasted about five minutes before my eyes were stinging…
Mojitos, Daiquiris, Cosmopolitans, Espresso Martinis and Piña Coladas were showered upon us before we headed upstairs for more drinks. The cocktails were refreshing and I love the cute little sharing boards, my friends would love these! Fun and full of flavour, they were the perfect start to our evening.
Taken upstairs into the beautiful executive lounge again, we were filled up with champagne and girly chats. I was with seven other bloggers (all of whom I’d met before apart from one!) and it was lovely being able to spend time with my friends. Gemma and Chloe are good friends of mine, so I could chat to them forever. Champagne, cocktails and a view of the beautiful Newcastle. I feel so lucky to be from an amazing city.
Dinner was served in the wonderful restaurant, we spent hours there accompanied by amazing food and drinks. For my starter, I went for tomato and mozzarella bruschetta and a medium rare fillet steak with thrice cooked chips, side salad and mushroom sauce for my main. Gemma and I also ordered a side order of Mac and Cheese and a baked potato with sour cream, bacon and chives. We totally overestimated the size of the ‘sides’ as it was easily enough for a full meal! There was so much food and everything was amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed every mouthful. I wish I could go back and eat it all again. For dessert (we waited a while…) I had a white chocolate sundae. My favourite ice cream is white chocolate, so I was so happy to see it as an option. Shannon was our server for the night, she was such a lovely girl and catered to all of our needs. Especially those of Laura, who had dietary requirements and cannot have dairy. It’s lovely to see the staff so knowledgeable about what goes into their food.
We were tempted to pop out for a few more drinks after our meal, as Avieka, The Quayside and many other great bars are such a short walk away over the bridge. The Quayside has a huge nightlife scene, so The Hilton is a great place to visit if you’re planning on a big night out in Newcastle and a day of relaxation ahead. On Sunday’s, there’s the Quayside Market which has lots of amazing local businesses, including The Grind for the best burgers in town (and the Doughnut guy to finish it off).
The thought of our huge beds and fluffy towels were too much to resist and we headed back to our rooms. Whilst taking my makeup off I was using their toiletries and was pleased to find that they were Peter Thomas Roth – a brand I love and reinforced their luxury status. After a great night’s sleep, it was time to get ready for the day ahead and breakfast. I get stupidly excited over breakfast, so I think I got ready pretty quickly. I met up with Chloe and we went down and quickly scoped out what we wanted. I can’t resist a good cooked breakfast but I didn’t realise until afterwards that they had a PANCAKE STATION! So naturally, I went back for pancakes…
There’s anything you could possibly want for breakfast here, just take a look at the video I shot.
