REVIEW CONTAINS GIFTED ITEMS –
I’m rarely ever seen with straight hair, I always curl it or have some form of a wave in my hair but it can be rather time-consuming so I try to find the quickest way to get a curl that holds, doesn’t damage my hair too much and of course, looks good.
There are three different types of curl I usually have, wavy, bouncy curls or somewhere in between. I was recently sent the GHD Soft Curl Tong to review for you all and tell you my thoughts. I can tell you now, the hair that I achieve with this curler is that of the wavy variety, but it can get a little tighter if I decide to pin curl it.
The GHD Soft Curl Tong has a 32mm barrel, which creates soft waves or big curls, the tip of the curler has a protective tip so that you can safely touch it without burning yourself. I find this great because it means I can curl the full length of my hair and rest my finger on the tip, without burning myself but getting the ends curled too!
I’m always asked how I curl my hair, and the tip to getting the curls I do is ensuring that you set them right. If you let a curl drop right after you release it, it will not last as long. I highly suggest either holding it in your hand for a few seconds while it cools down (which can occasionally burn, but I think I just have asbestos hands by this point) or you can use a metal sectioning clips to pin curl your hair, leave it for a while and you’ll be left with bouncy, tighter curls. If you want the waves, like in the pictures, I just held the curls in my hand and scrunched them – and used a LOT of hairsprays. My curls tend to hold better on the second day, and are much fluffier and softer on day one – personally I prefer second-day hair!
One of the best things about the curler is the fact it heats up in less than a minute, it’s super quick and easy to use. As well as this, the curler automatically shuts off with 30 minutes of inactivity, so if you ever forget to turn it off, it’s got you covered. The curler gets very hot at 185 degrees, but not too hot that it’s going to frazzle your hair off.
I highly recommend that you use the GHD Curl Hold Spray, which not only helps any curls hold, but it is heat protectant which obviously minimises damage. I highly suggest you all use a heat protectant when using any heat on your hair.
I really love this curler, it’s incredible and I highly recommend it to anyone who is after a good-quality curling tong to achieve a gorgeous style. I’ll be using it for many years to come.
