How to increase your hair growth after dealing with hair loss

July 8, 2025 by Katie Meehan Leave a Comment

If you’ve experienced hair loss, you might be eager to get it to return. While there aren’t any miracle solutions that’ll work overnight, there are ways to increase the chances of your hair regrowing.

Some causes of hair loss include stress, hormone changes, and health conditions. If these have affected your hair growth, here are some simple steps you can use to improve your hair growth journey.

Improve your diet

Your diet is one of the biggest contributors to your hair’s health. Your hair and nails are made up of keratin, a type of protein. To keep them as strong and healthy as possible, you need to ensure your body is getting enough protein in the first place.

We recommend adding protein-rich foods, like lean meats, fish, eggs, oats, and beans, to your diet. If this isn’t viable, you may want to consider various supplements specifically designed for hair growth.

Of course, your hair doesn’t just need protein. It also needs a range of vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin A, B, C, E, Zinc, and Iron. The easiest way to get them is by consuming various fruits and vegetables, although you can also use hair loss vitamins.

Scalp Care

Taking extra care with your scalp can help stimulate blood flow through to your hair follicles and promote hair growth. One way you can do this is by massaging your hair and scalp regularly with oils and masks. Not only does this improve your hair quality, but it’s extremely beneficial in helping blood flow.

Additionally, we recommend using gentle shampoo and conditioner. Certain products include harsh chemicals, which can damage your hair and reduce its ability to grow effectively. Harsh chemicals can also be found in various dyes, perms, and relaxers, so you may want to avoid these products altogether.

Stress management

When trying to improve the growth of your hair, managing stress is vital. Not only can the stress of hair loss or thinning cause the problem to get worse, but it’s detrimental to your physical health, too.

Finding reliable ways to relax can be excellent for your hair health and overall well-being. You might want to consider regular yoga, meditation, or gentle exercise like walking. Not only are these proven ways to reduce stress, but they’re also beneficial for your general health.

Avoid further damage

Of course, if you’re trying to promote hair growth, the last thing you want to do is damage it further. We recommend avoiding tight hairstyles and limiting the use of heat styling. While effective, they can damage the follicles and reduce your hair’s growth.
