I truly believe that the perfect candle will not only give off an incredible scent but create the perfect ambience in any room. So much more goes into a candle than just the scent, it really is an art form. Jonathan Ward is a brand of luxury, developed and made by Jonathan Ward himself that specialises in home fragrance. Through chatting with Jonathan and learning about his brand, I learned just what it takes for a candle to be considered luxury.
Jonathan currently has a range of seven candles and kindly sent me a candle to try for myself, the range is called ‘The Scent of Time’ and each 240g candle is hand-poured in London, using a blend of organic coconut oil, organic beeswax and organic vegetable wax. The candles themselves have a double cotton wick and housed in a fluted crystal Double Old Fashioned whiskey tumbler from Italy. Not only are they weighty, but the quality of the glass is incredible. As soon as I opened the gorgeous box, I could feel the luxury. I was completely blown away by the candle and it truly is a very special product.
The scent that I was generously gifted, is called ‘Roscuro’ and is inspired by the origins of chiaroscuro, inspired by the artist Caravaggio. Jonathan describes this scent as a ‘poetic journey from darkness to light. Oud, Amber and Iris entangle in a warm nostalgia’ and I can’t agree more. Warm nostalgia is a perfect way to describe this decadent and heartwarming scent. It is truly stunning and I have been burning it very often.
Every single detail of this candle is well thought out, even the label on the glass is incredibly luxurious and I truly love this product. The candle burns for up to 40-45 hours, and the double cotton wick ensures that it burns cleanly and evenly, with no black residue.
