It finally happened pals, I had my first ever spa trip. I know, right? Took me 24 years. The lovely team over at Ramside Hotel and Spa invited me along to try out their facilities in return to tell you all about it. I’ve always wanted to try a spa, live out my ultimate ~zen~ life. Though, if you know me you’ll know I’m not really a zen kinda person. I find it hard to switch off and truly chill out, technology, ey?
Ramside Hall is nestled in Durham, a gorgeous spot popular with brides and grooms. It’s a gorgeous estate full of luxury and escapism from the bustling cities that surround it. After checking into our room, and audibly gasping at the bathroom (it was absolutely gorgeous) we headed straight to the spa and booked our treatments in. I opted for an hour-long massage, which was tailored to my needs. My main concern was my skin, as I’ve been struggling with acne for a while and wanted a little refresh, but we also incorporated a head massage and a back massage too. Helena, who was my masseuse, was extremely kind and attentive, she was lovely to chat to and made the whole experience calm, enjoyable and relaxing.
Ramside Spa uses Natural Bisse and Espa as their wellness and beauty brands, and I was able to choose which scents I wanted, with each scent performing a different kind of experience. There was energising, stress-busting and relaxing, and Helena helped me pick which one would work best for me. I decided to go for relaxing, as I wanted to really chill out. I thought that the Espa scents truly made the experience much more relaxing and I thoroughly enjoyed how much attention to detail was paid, it made me feel special and cared for.
My favourite part of the whole thing was absolutely the head massage, oh my goodness, my favourite thing in the whole world. I had such a fantastic massage and after it was over, I was given some fruit water and lead to the sleep room, so I could chill out and make the most of the relaxation. I met back up with Jen, who also had an amazing time and we agreed that we absolutely MUST do this again soon and take more care of our minds and bodies. Taking just that hour out to feel attended to made such a difference to my day, and made me realise how much time I spend hunched over some form of technology and that I really need to take a break.
After our massages, it was our time slot for the spa and we had access to the full facilities, including the outside jacuzzi and private area. The spa was absolutely gorgeous, clean and modern. Fruit and infused water were available at all times, so we could live our best, healthy life. After an hour or so chilling outside in the jacuzzi, we decided it was time to get ready for dinner. We headed back to the spa in the morning too and made a little more use of the jacuzzi and steam room.
We booked into the pan-Asian restaurant, Fusion. One of two restaurants to choose from at Ramside. The Rib Room was the other option, but since Jen is vegan and we both love Asian food, we knew which one was our winner. The food was absolutely delightful, we both stuffed ourselves full and would happily go back again soon. I opted for the Chicken and Cashew nuts, and Jen went for the Maple Chilli Tofu, they had a lot of vegan options available, which is so refreshing! For our starter, we shared some Avocado and Cucumber Maki, but absolutely too full for desserts.
Coming back to our room after dinner was truly divine, it’s such a gorgeous room with a huge window. In the morning, waking up with the sun shining through the window made the whole trip complete. I love the decor of the whole hotel, a perfect mixture of country style and modern class. My only regret? Not making use of the giant, beautiful bath. Maybe next time?
So, if you’re looking for a gorgeous country get-away, I couldn’t recommend Ramside Spa enough. It was such a wonderful experience and we both had such a lovely time, we didn’t want to come home. So, if you’re going to book, definitely do more than one night!
