Scrolling through social media, we see a huge focus on skincare and makeup. What we don’t see that much of in the beauty industry is hair care. Sometimes I think it’s a huge afterthought, but to me, the health of my hair is just as important as any other part of my body. I don’t feel complete if my hair looks a mess, and I really take pride in it. I don’t just put anything on my hair and try my hardest to avoid any harsh ingredients. I know it can’t always be done, but the industry really is wisening up to what people want. There are hundreds of different brands out there to try, but today I want to talk to you about Percy and Reed.
Percy and Reed was created by Paul Percival and Adam Reed, in 2007. Their business motto is they ‘take their work seriously, themselves not so’ which I LOVE. I love having a laugh and I love a brand that embraces being different. They both started as hairdressers and opened their own hair salon in London. They are all about accessible haircare that works for everyone, just watch this brand video and you’ll see why I feel so passionate about the products and wanted to share them with you:
Their branding is cool, feminine and focuses on beautiful hair and fashion. I can’t argue with that! The artwork drew me in but the products, they speak for themselves.
Now, onto the products! I have very long, straightish, colour treated hair. It’s thick, a nightmare to brush and gets matted super easy. I get lots of compliments on my hair but honestly, spending 30 minutes brushing it, trying to get all the knots out isn’t anything to be envious of. I notice a difference straight away in the products I use, when I cut out all harsh ingredients and use good, quality products, my hair really cooperates with me.
I’ve always been intrigued by Percy and Reed, after spotting it in M&S. The M&S beauty hall is an underrated goldmine, and stocks brands such as Pixi, Emma Hardie, Nuxe, Stila and more. The packaging is sleek and fashionable, but incredibly practical. On the Shampoo and Conditioner bottles, the caps have a lock and are colour coded. No more accidentally picking up the wrong bottle in the shower, and definitely no leakages and wasted product. It’s truly the best packaging I’ve ever used, it’s incredibly functional and I hate it when you’ve got slippy hands and you can’t open your shampoo bottle. We’ve all been there, but no chance of it happening with this one.
I decided to go for the volume range as I like my hair to be big and bouncy, I always curl my hair and find that if I use volumising products, the curls last longer. The Bountifully Bouncy Volumising Shampoo and the Bountifully Bouncy Volumising Conditioner are perfect for giving me the best base to curl onto. Containing blackcurrant extract, grape seed oil and aloe vera extract, the duo ensures my hair is looking healthy and feeling great.
I always get asked how I curl my hair, and I really can’t do without a good hairspray and volumising spray. Without a doubt they are key, ensuring that the hair is a little messy and textured is key to keeping curls in, as well as pinning them (which we don’t always have time for). I spray my hair with the Big Bold & Beautiful Dry Instant Volumising Spray first, and then the Surprisingly Strong Extra Hold Hairspray afterwards to keep everything in place. My hair still looks smooth and shiny, and the hairspray is easily brushed out which I love, however, my hair does look way more volumised and finished. I love these two products and will definitely repurchase them when I run out. Highly recommend!
A quick blast of the Big Bold & Beautiful Dry Instant Volumising Spray and my hair is huge and full of life. I love that it’s translucent, so I don’t have to worry about any annoying white patches. I can just spray liberally, give my hair a little tousle and I’m done. Even when I don’t have time to curl my hair, it takes my straight hair from limp to volumised. It really is a miracle product.
It’s important to give your hair a little extra TLC other than just shampoo and conditioner, too. I love using a hair oil and a balm to add extra shine and give my hair an extra boost of hydration. The Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm will speed up the styling process and boasts help with moisture, shine, smoothness, definition, softness, light hold, high humidity protection and manageability. It’s definitely true, my hair feels amazing when I use it and I really don’t have to worry about frizz. Pop this one in your shopping basket if you struggle with frizzy, lacklustre hair. You won’t be disappointed, especially in the upcoming Autumn weather.
The last product, but certainly not least is the Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Treatment Oil+. An oil is a necessity for everyone in their hair routine and the Percy and Reed one is no exception. If you have dry, dehydrated hair, this will rejuvenate it and add in shine and radiance. Filled with Camellia Seed Oil, it restores moisture and protects hair, along with Macadamia Seed Oil which penetrates the scalp and hair, for strength and elasticity and vitamin-rich Carrot Seed Oil. Just a tiny amount will go a long way so this bottle will last me forever!
Just a little note, I wouldn’t necessarily use all of these styling products in one. I’ve learned to know what my hair needs and when, I like the oil for once I’ve washed it, and the balm for second day/third day hair and minimising frizz. It’s important not to overload your hair with product otherwise it will weight it down, making it look limp and lifeless.
My final thoughts on Percy and Reed is that it is a brand with a deep love of haircare, a lot of knowledge and passion. Their products absolutely reflect that and are made with the consumer in mind, we aren’t an afterthought. From the packaging to the ingredients, everything is spot on. I will continue to use them and I really love what I’ve tried.
Have you tried Percy and Reed before? What products stood out to you?
A huge thank you to Percy and Reed for sponsoring this post but as always, all opinions are my own and I’m really chuffed to work with such a great brand. I love the products a lot and hopefully, one day can visit the salon!

I’ve only ever tried the wonder balm before – but I absolutely loved it. Smells amazing, is super light and was great for smoothing out the frizzy ends of my hair (when it was long aha – haven’t used it in ages now); But if this one product is anything to go by I can only imagine the others being fab too! <3 xo
